U.S. Attack on Syria

The current issue of the U.S. attacking Syria is a hot story in the news all around the world right now. According to The Washington Post , these attacks are expected to cost millions of dollars instead of billions of dollars like the attack on Libya. Rep. Brad Sherman says "barely five percent of what we did in Libya".  Whether it's the right thing to do or not is not the point of this post, this is to inform what could go wrong if the U.S. goes through with bombing Syria.

The Washington Post tells us that if we were to strike in Syria, there would be large civilian casualties. By trying to defeat the terrorist groups, we could hit a building full of civilians and kill them instead. Our attacks could also lead to Assad killing more civilians himself. David Igatius tells us he interviewed a rebel leader who told him the circumstances "could change the balance of civil war in Syria." Another way these strikes could be ineffective is if we try and tone down the power of the attacks, Assad may survive them and seem more powerful to the world, making the U.S. look weak and unsuccessful.  Senator James Risch tells us "if we go in with a limited strike and, the day after or the week after or the month after, Assad crawls out of his rat hole and says, 'Look, I stood up to the strongest power on the face of this Earth and I won?' ". This would send a message to the world that the U.S. military is soft and doesn't carry out there business fully. These are just a few things to think about during these times of war. We have to educate ourselves with modern events and make sure we know what is going on in the world, so we can stay safe, protected, and informed.
